I'm Christian, founder of Silvestra.

If you've made it here, you're probably looking to add some green to your life, but without the usual complications.

Let me briefly tell you how an engineer ended up swapping the keyboard for the earth in a workshop in Seville.

From code to root

For years I lived glued to a screen.

I'm an industrial engineer and worked designing software in Dublin, Amsterdam and Barcelona. My job was to take complex problems and design simple, visual solutions. I lived fast, connected and far from the countryside.

Until I decided to stop.

I hung up the laptop, traveled with a backpack through Asia and America to reset, and ended up returning to the essential: to my origin in Sierra Morena.

Here, taking care of the garden and learning permaculture, I understood that nature is the best design system that exists.

Engineering and Design

Silvestra is born from combining my two facets.

I realized that an Eternal Garden is the perfect design: it gives you all the beauty of nature while eliminating the difficult part (maintenance).

In each piece I apply what I know:

  • Engineering: I calculate the layers of substrate and moisture so that the water cycle is autonomous and the plant doesn't die.
  • Design: I compose the landscape so that it is visually clean, balanced and looks good in any corner of your home.

The result is not just decoration. It's a living system designed to work on its own.

Workshop, not factory

This is not a logistics warehouse. It's an artisan workshop.

I don't have shelves with stock accumulating dust. I work on demand.

When you buy your terrarium:

  1. 1. I select the glass and the healthiest plants one by one.
  2. 2. I prepare the ecosystem layer by layer.
  3. 3. I carve and adjust by hand the natural cork lid from our cork oaks.

That's why it takes me a few days to send it to you. It's not slowness, it's quality control. I need to make sure the ecosystem is stable before it goes on a journey.

You're not alone

My work doesn't end when the package leaves. These terrariums are designed to last for years. I'll be delighted to know that a part of my workshop now lives in your living room and, if you ever have doubts about how your ecosystem is doing, write to me.
